Add Adventure Travel To Your Life: It’s Easier Than You Think

Our travellers range from the novice about to venture on their trek to the uber-experienced ‘country counter’ who has logged over 50 countries. While the term “adventure travel” certainly conjures up images of extreme and dangerous pursuits, you’ll be surprised to hear that it is a very broad category based on getting surprised by nature, culture, wildlife and people. Adventure travel is deeply personal so think about what activities and places are exciting to you.

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step

Physical and mental challenge

Some expeditions can be more physically and mentally challenging than what you may be used to. If you’re not in shape, start training well before you go. Even if you’re out of shape that doesn’t mean you should stay away. Just take it easy at first and go for something less arduous, you can find it with us. Except for extreme expeditions (or very unfit people), physical training is usually just the icing on the cake when it comes to enjoyment.

Health, Vitality and Food

Eating sensibly while on taking part in adventure travel activities is not only vital for endurance, but is part of the investment you made for the trip. What good does it do to spend the money, but not have the energy and stamina to enjoy it? By improving your eating habits, reduce sugar and snacking, and taking along the necessary supplements, you will be able to surf the ocean rather than channel surf from a rocking chair. Health and vitality starts with the dinner plate and some discipline. It’s up to you how good you want to feel. Nobody can do it for you.

Are you a hygiene nut?… time to go on adventure

Prevention = hygiene + immunity + good bacteria. We all tend to get more and more lax with hygiene the longer we go without illness. Then bang. But there’s a paradox here. Being a ‘hygiene nut’ back at home is probably the worse thing you can do for your immunity. Sure you shouldn’t eat out of a garbage bin, but when you start refusing to shake people’s hands due to ‘germs’, it’s time to get a grip.

Lightweight

So you have comfortable feet, a healthy stomach and you’re relatively fit. Sure, you could have trained much harder, but there’s an easier way. For every kilogram you shave off your pack, you save 13.7 megajoules of energy per hour. Okay, I just made that up, but seriously, shedding weight has a seemingly exponential effect.

The right climate for you?

If you are heading out on adventure travel, your vacation could be cut short, or just be miserable if you are not well prepared for the climate and conditions that you are going to be encountering during your adventure. Inform about weather conditions and be sure to prepare yourself and take the correct equipment for the right climate.

Comfort: Don´t expect anything.

Everyone has a different comfort level and adventure travel just means taking a trip that is exciting, one that is a little out of your normal travel behavior. You don’t have to go and climb Mount Everest or anything like that to have a good time with adventure travel….but if you do be sure you have the right attitude.

Ability & Difficulty

We have adventures for people of almost all ability levels and try hard to accommodate everyone’s individual needs. Having said all this, some adventures are definitely a bit more difficult than others. We categorize our adventures based on the type of adventure. The difficulty ratings represent the technical strain on the average adventurous traveller. Each activity can require training, inform about ability and experience needed.
