Exploring the mind-blazing valleys of Sødal and Kalkdal in central Liverpool Land by ski, traversing through the valleys and over the Bjerring Pederson ice field, you'll have the chance to make ski ascents and descents of rarely climbed peaks. Liverpool Land offers a whole world of Ski-touring expeditions in east and northeast Greenland. Beautiful views of the sea ice, icebergs and the ice filled Denmark Straits. The mountainous Liverpool Land peninsula extends from Uunartoq in the south to Kap Gladstone in the north. Learn to know the local Inuit culture by visiting the remote Inuit settlement of Scoresbysund. Ice , snow , dogs and a fantastic story of exploration is something to enjoy of in the Ittoqqortoormiit region. The route leads us through Hurry Fjord which offers an incredible scenery and good views of Jameson Land and the wild Volquart Bones coast. In April and May seals can frequently be spotted as they are relaxing on the ice and every year we have seen fresh polar bear tracks and it is not unusual to see the king of the arctic. The skitour can be done by anyone with a normal physical conditions and good health. The average hours per day on skies pulling an expeditionsledge would be around 8 hours. We will be accompanied by an Inuit hunter with his dogsledge. The weather in Hurry Fiord region is characterized by prolonged periods of high-pressure conditions, but as anywhere in the Arctic, these periods are frequently interrupted by strong winds, low clouds and precipitatio. Early April in Liverpool Land can mean overnight temperatures down to -30°C, with daytime highs usually around -15°C. Storms can blow through on occasion, meaning you may need to sit out some bad weather in your tent.
