This ski touring and Arctic survival course in Sweden’s Sapmi region (pronounced ‘sarmi’) will be a fantastic cold-weather wilderness adventure and would also serve as an excellent introduction to Arctic travel for anyone looking at one of our more extreme winter journeys. The week-long adventure, taking place on the sub-Arctic plateau of the Jamtland Mountains, will take in Alpine terrain, Sweden’s most Southerly glacier, vast open expanses and, during the wild camp, offer the chance to see the magnificent Northern Lights. For the bravest amongst you, there will also be the option to spend a night in a snow hole. As with all our trips, we will aim to make you self-sufficient in your environment, so expect training in Arctic survival techniques, including ice fishing, igloo building and ice safety. Once the hard work is over, we’ll spend a relaxing evening at a traditional Sapmi restaurant. We’ll then return to Oslo on the penultimate day, with the chance of an evening out in the city before departing the next day. The itinerary may be changed to suit the group or prevailing weather conditions.
