The floating garden of the Atlantic, as it is popularly known to Madeira is a beautiful island located in the middle of the ocean, halfway between the Azores and the Canaries. It has a very special atmosphere, and rainfall is very different between the northern and southern side of the island. This led to the titanic engineering work undertaken since the sixteenth century to the early twentieth, when a network of canals was devised (Levada) to carry water to every corner of the island. During this journey will take advantage of roads driven on these Levada, to attractions such as Ribeiro Frio, Ruivo and Aireiro the peaks, the Port of Encumeada, the plateau of Paul da Serra da Janela Rivera or Punta Sao Lourenço peninsula located at the eastern end of the island.
