This trekking is an adventure in remote wilderness. During the tour you will have to carry your own equipment in your backpack. Distances can be up to 20km on valley trekking days. The climb up to the Dinosaur Mountain (1244m) involves a climb of +1000m. You will camp in tents for 7 nights and 2 nights in a tent basecamp.

On this journey you will see some of the least trodden and remote regions of the world. This experience will reward you with a stunning combination of this region’s amazing arctic environment, the polar Ural mountains capes. This expedition is an opportunity to return to the basics and enjoy exploring the tundra and the Polar Ural mountains.

Yamal in the language of the indigenous Nenets means the end of the world; on his tour you will trek trough and over it’s remote mountains and glaciers, observe the permafrost, raft on serpentine rivers, camp in the arctic forest, taste and catch the arctic fishes, and learn more about the reindeer-herding Nenets people, who have been living here for over a thousand years.

In summer, in July and August the average temperature is about 15ºC, but can be up to plus 30 degrees C. Frequent magnetic storms are accompanied by northern lights. During the summer, temperatures rise and the top layer of the permafrost melts.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive at Moscow Domedovo, transport to Airhotel Domodedovo*** (double room)

Day 2 - Breakfast, and transport to Domedovo Airport, departure of the flight to Salekhard at 12:25h. Arrival at 17:10h and transport to the Yamalkan hotel. Salekhard, with 42,500 inhabitants is located on the banks of the river Ob. Constructed in 1595 as a Cossack fortress, the city bore the name Obdorsk - place on the Ob - until 1933. Salekhard means from the Nenets language "settlement at the Cape." Overnight in hotel Yamalkan, double room. (B)

Day 3 - Transport to the Labytnangi railroad station. 2,5 hours journey with the train to the Polar Ural train station. Accommodation at hotel in Polyarny.

Day 4-7 - Trekking from Polyarny settlement upstream along the river Poypuddyna, through the pass to Khanmey river downstream Khanmey to old vehicle road. Through Senka Shor valley, across Slancevaya mountain to the Sob valley. Once arrived at the Sob valley we go upstream along the banks of the Sob river. Camp in tents (B,L,D)

Day 8-10 - Climb Dinosaur mountain, visit the Romantic glacier, cascades and Rayz mountain. Camp in tents. (B,L,D) (B)

Day 11 - . During the morning we can enjoy some spare time, relaxing along the banks of the river Sob. In the afternoon you can enjoy activities like fishing, kayak and sauna. Basacamp (B,L,D)

Day 12 - After breakfast you can fish or walk. At midday we start navigating with rafts of the Sob River with final destination Kharp. Transport to Yamalkan. (B,L)

Day 13 - Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to the airport at 8:30 am. Departure of the flight at 10:00h – arrival at Domodedovo airport at 11:00h. End of the program.
