Sichuan province is known among naturalists throughout the world as one of the most important wild places of the earth. Here we can see the Giant Panda, an excellent variety of birds including many endemic species, and an extraordinarily diverse flora, all concentrated in one especially scenic area. The trip will take us to a unexplored paradise for lovers of nature: the Zoige swamp, the forest of Baxi, Buddhist temples and traditional Tibetan highlands with pastors. Many of the world’s most beautiful flowers can also be seen in Sichuan, especially Rhododendrons, Viburnums, Roses, Primulas, Anemones and Orchids. Forests, including lowland subtropical and temperate hardwoods, contain an extraordinary variety of tree species.
Animals that we try to track include, among others: Red Panda, Sambar, Giant Panda, Tibetan Fox, Goral, Stump tailed macaque, Wolf, Black Bear, Sika and Siberian Roe Deer, Chinese Serow and Pallas cat.
The conditions
During the expedition we explore the natural areas on foot, learning about animals and observation techniques. In December it is winter in this area and there may be snow in high mountain areas, which facilitates tracking. Temperatures can drop below zero degrees Celsius. In the mountain hotels we can not always guarantee electricity, as it depends on natural resources.
