DAY 2. EXCURSION TO THE PULPIT (PREIKESTOLEN) – ROLDAL

One of the jewels of the Norwegian fjords is the excursion to the Pulpit Rock. To get there you will have to take the car from Stavanger to Lauvvik (42 km). Here you will have to take a ferry to the town of Oanes and from here continue on the road for about 18 km to the parking lot from where the walk begins. The excursion of about 530 m of elevation difference takes about 2 hours on the ascent and another one on the descent. The views from Preikestolen are spectacular, as it is a balcony hanging more than 600 m vertically above the Lysefjord fjord. I return by the same road. In the afternoon, travel north (160 km) to the town of Roldal. In this town you can visit the beautiful wooden church.

DAY 3. ROLDAL – ODDA – KINSARVIK
Breakfast.

Today we will continue traveling north. On the way between Odda and Roldal we will find next to the road the spectacular Lattefossen waterfall, with a great flow and which has two parallel waterfalls. Further north we find the Folgefonna National Park, where one of the largest glaciers in continental Norway is located. Highly recommended the hike to one of its languages, the Buerbreen glacier. The walk leaves the town of Buer, located 8 km from Odda. The walk takes around 3 hours to reach the viewpoint located at the foot of the glacier tongue. During the second part of the day we will skirt one of the most beautiful arms of the Hardanger fjord, the Sorfjorden fjord. There are many hiking possibilities in the area. The most famous walk is the one that leads to what is known as the “language of Tröll”, in Norwegian Trölltunga. It is an easy hike, but very long (about 8 hours round trip), so if we opt for this option it will take us practically all day. Arrival in the afternoon at Eidfjord, where in the late afternoon we can approach the famous Voringfossen waterfall, located in a spectacular rocky canyon that collects the meltwater from the Hardangervidda mountain plateau.

Lodge accommodation, Kinsarvik.

DAY 4. KINSARVIK – GUDVANGEN – NIGARSBREEN – KAUPANGER
Once again skirting the Hardargen fjord and then crossing the underground tunnel our first stop will be at Skjervsfossen waterfall, next to the road. We will continue towards Voss and before reaching Gudvangen we will visit the Tvindefossen waterfall and we will turn off towards the Stalheim hotel, from where we will observe a panoramic view of the valley from the hotel terrace. Arrival in Gudvangen and around noon boarding (12 noon) on the ferry that will take us to tour one of the most beautiful and spectacular fjords in all of Norway, the Naeroyfjord (Unesco Heritage). Then we will cross the Sognefjord until we reach the town of Kaupanger (2h30 by ferry).

DAY 5. NATIONAL PARK OF JOSTEDAL AND FIORDO LUSTRAFJORDEN
From Skjolden we will again take the road that borders the fjord to Gaupne. Here we will take highway 604 that goes into the heart of the Jostedal National Park. At the end of the valley, we will hike for about 45 minutes from the parking lot to the front of the Nigarsbreen glacier, one of the most spectacular languages that descends from the Jostedalsbreen ice cap. You can also take a boat that shortens the excursion to just 20 minutes (one way). In the afternoon we can return to Skjolden and continue skirting the Lustrafjorden fjord on its eastern shore in the direction of the Feigefossen waterfall and then visit the wooden church of Urnes, or take a nice 4-hour walk to the top of the Molden, to have extraordinary panoramic views of the fjord.

DAY 6.KAUPANGER – BRIKDALSBREEN-  LOEN
In the morning we will return to Songdal and take the road number 5. We can stop to visit the Glacier Museum. About 5 km later, a mandatory stop to observe the spectacular hanging glacier of Boyabreen. Continuation to Olden, via Utvik. On the way, the Videfossen waterfall and the views towards the mountains and lakes at more than 1000 meters high stand out. At Grotli we will take Highway 15 towards Geiranger. Before making the descent to Geiranger we will go up to the Dalsnibba viewpoint, located 1,500 meters high and where we will have an incredible 360º view. On the descent to Geiranger a short stop is recommended to take photos at the Flydasljubbet viewpoint. Already in the afternoon, around 15:00 we will take the cruise through the Geirangerfjord, one of the most popular ferry routes in the entire fjord region. The duration of the journey is approximately 1 hour. Along the way we will be able to observe, among other wonders, the waterfall of the Seven Sisters. Arrival at Hellesylt, disembark and return to Olden / Loen viaGrodas and Stryn.

Lodge accommodation, Loen.

NOTE: from Hellesylt, if the weather permits and you feel like it, you can choose to drive about 2 hours to the Atlantic coast and the Island of Runde. Here during this time of year a large colony of puffin birds nest. The spectacle of watching them return to their nests in the late evening is very satisfying. The landscape is spectacular since the nests are located on the edge of the cliffs. To get to the observation area, you will have to walk about 40 minutes from the Runde campsite, crossing the island from east to west. Puffins do not return to their nests until 9 p.m. I return to the campsite by the same itinerary and in about 2 hours by car back to Loen. There is also the option of staying to sleep on the Island of Runde and the next day make a different itinerary to Andalsnes but also visiting the Troll Road.

DAY 8. LOEN – ANDALSNES
We will repeat the same path as the previous day until Geiranger, but taking the tunnel and skipping the “Strynefjell” road. In Geiranger we will take the one known as “Carretera de las Águilas” which has a wonderful viewpoint over the fjord. The road crosses a beautiful mountain landscape and reaches Eidsdal, where we will take a ferry to cross the fjord and reach Linge. At this point the tourist road nº63 begins. We can make several stops along the way, such as the Gudbrandsjuvett gorge, until we reach the so-called Troll Road “Trollastigen”, which descends the mountain with countless zigzags and views of the steep peaks of the Trollveggen massif.

Lodge accommodation, Andalsnes.

Transition stage between the fjord area and the mountainous region of central Norway. In the first part of the tour we will cross the Romsdalen valley with views of the colossal Trollveggen wall, the highest in Europe with a totally vertical drop of 1200 meters. This valley is full of large waterfalls that fall from the side walls of the valley. On the way to Lom we can deviate to make a panoramic visit to one of the two most interesting national parks in the area, the P.N. Dovrefjell (natural habitat of the musk ox and other Nordic species such as Elk and Reindeer). Here the mountains are over 2000 meters high. It is possible to take a short walk of about 20 minutes to the viewpoint of Snohetta, with its modern design and wide views of the plateau and the summits of Dovrefjell.
