UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN THE LAND OF THE NENETS

Siberia
CROSSING IN THE URAL POLAR MOUNTAINS
departure: March 2024
Duration: 12 days

It is so far that most of this territory is beyond the Arctic Circle and to get there you have to cross half the world. It is so inhospitable that Stalin built his prison camps here. No one doubts the great natural beauty of Yamalia or its unusual fauna. The planet is getting smaller, and if you want to go further … few places as distant as Yamalia will find. If you like to go on an adventure, this discovery trip could interest you and introduce you to one of the most ancient and traditional cultures that remain on this planet.

During the trip you will see some of the least explored and most remote regions on Earth. This experience will give you a stunning combination of the incredible arctic environment of the region along with the landscapes of the Polar Urals, as well as an exclusive immersion in the ancient ways of life in the tundra and of today’s Nenets nomads. This expedition is an opportunity to get back to basics and to enjoy the tundra and the mountains of the Polar Urals (the natural border between the continents of Europe and Asia). In the first part of the trip we will cross the arctic tundra and the Urals mountains with snowshoes and / or skis and we will sleep in arctic tents until we reach a Nenet nomadic camp. There we will live with a Nenet family with their reindeer and we will stay in a chum tent where we will share daily tasks with this indigenous group.
