LADAKH-CHANGTANG PLATEAU MOUNTAINEERING

Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet, is a piece of the Tibetan plateau east of the Kashmir region, nestled between the Himalaya and Karakorum mountain ranges. Located to the southeast of Ladakh is the Rupshu region, belonging to the Changtang, where we find an extensive collection of affordable summits between 6000 – 6600 meters. Our objective will be one of the summits of the group of the TsoMoriri peaks, a small massif that extends along a couple of valleys and that has a dozen summits above 6200 m. Its highest summit is 6,402 m. To acclimatize before the ascent to the summit, we will trek through the fascinating Rupshu region, known for being the land of the Changpa nomads. We will cross several hills over 5,000 m until we reach the shores of Tso Moriri Lake and climb another acclimatization summit, the Yalung Nong.
