TRACKING THE AMUR TIGER

The Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica), also known as the Siberian Tiger, can be found throughout the Primorye territory and in the eastern part of the Khabarovsk territory. Hunting has been banned since 1947, when the population had dropped to as few as 50 individuals. Males have a length of 400cm and a height of 100cm and can weigh between 180 and 300kg. Females are smaller and can weigh between 100 and 160kg.
The Amur Tiger is an endangered species, according to the latest studies about 450 remain. Deaths through poaching, to supply the demand for Traditional Chinese Medicines, and habitat loss due to deforestation create the highets stresses on the population. Within the reserve the Tiger is thriving, having adults and cubs occupying the whole territory of the Durminskoye Reserve.
Winter in the Durminskoye reserve creates a magical white world where animals leave their tracks and where there is a greater chance of observing the king of the taiga; the Amur Tiger. We will use phototrapping, tracking and pisteo to know their movements and habitats. A complete and unforgettable expedition from the X-plore specialists.
