Gerard van den Berg Managing Director
Gerard was born in Hattem, a tiny village at the Dutch countryside. There he lived quietly until he left for Spain when he was 22 years old. Since he was very young he felt attracted towards learning about the survival techniques of indigenous people, those who managed to remain to stand strong with the help of their traditional way of life within their natural living environment. In 2005 he personally founded X-plore group, a travel agency specialized in expeditions far away from the classic tourism paths. Looking for a unique and true authentic experience. As a founder of the association ¨Sense Limits¨ he arrived to the South Pole with a team of disabled people in 2008 after a long expedition. It was the first one in its kind: never before so many physically disabled people had participated in an expedition to the Arctic. As an expert guide he led expeditions to the most extreme climates of our planet such a Siberia or the Kalahari desert. Gerard is an International Mountainleader and is professionally qualified in Alpinism, Backcountry skiing, Rockclimbing, Arctic specialist, ¨Experimental Learning¨ teacher, speaker and professional adventurer.
