La investigación realizada en hospitales, oficinas y escuelas ha encontrado que incluso una planta simple en una habitación puede tener un impacto significativo en el estrés y la ansiedad. El impacto de la naturaleza en nuestra salud …
- El baño en el bosque, o Shinrin-yoku, como lo llaman en Japón, es una forma muy conocida de pasar tiempo en la naturaleza. La investigación ha demostrado que las personas que practican el baño en el bosque tienen funciones óptimas del sistema nervioso, condiciones cardíacas bien equilibradas y trastornos intestinales reducidos en gran manera.
- Las actividades al aire libre reducen las posibilidades de desarrollar problemas de visión como la hipermetropía y la miopía. Una encuesta realizada a niños en Australia reveló que los niños en edad escolar que participaban en actividades al aire libre tenían mejor visión que los niños que pasaban más tiempo en el interior (Rose, Morgan, Kifley, 2008).
- Los estudios tienen conexiones relacionadas con la naturaleza para reducir el IMC. Las personas que hacen ejercicio al aire libre están menos fatigadas y tienen menos posibilidades de sufrir obesidad y afecciones relacionadas.
- La investigación de Forest Bathing también sugirió que, al estimular la producción de proteínas anticancerígenas, las caminatas o viajes frecuentes al desierto ayudan a los pacientes a combatir enfermedades terminales. Aunque esta es una investigación en curso y se esperan pruebas más firmes, esta sugerencia es lo suficientemente fuerte como para demostrar los beneficios de estar al aire libre.
LA NATURALEZA mejora el bienestar físico-psicológico …
- Las caminatas por la naturaleza benefician a las personas que sufren de depresión (Shern et al., 2014). Los estudios han demostrado que las personas que sufren de trastornos depresivos leves o graves mostraron cambios de humor significativos cuando se expusieron a la naturaleza. No solo eso, sino que también se sintieron más motivados y energizados para recuperarse y volver a la normalidad (Berman, Kross, Kaplan, 2012).
- Reduce la frecuencia del pulso, la presión arterial y los niveles de cortisol (Universidad de Chiba).
- Mejora el funcionamiento cognitivo y el bienestar mental (Kaplan, 1993, 2001).
- Fortalece el sistema inmunitario y aumenta la resistencia a las células cancerosas (Qing Li, 2009).
- Investigaciones recientes revelaron que estar al aire libre reduce el estrés al disminuir la hormona que lo produce, el cortisol. Además de eso, también nos hace inmunes a problemas aliados como la hipertensión y la taquicardia (Lee J, 2011).
- Mejora la memoria hasta en un 20% (Berman, et al, 2008).
- Tiene un efecto positivo significativo en la autonomía, el crecimiento personal y un sentido de propósito (Nisbet, Zelenski, Murphy, 2011).
- Aumenta la creatividad en un 50% (Atchley et al, 2012).
- Los paseos por la naturaleza y otras actividades al aire libre generan atención y concentración (Hartig, 1991). Existen pruebas que indican fuertes conexiones ambientales que se relacionan con un mejor rendimiento, una mayor concentración y menores posibilidades de desarrollar un trastorno por déficit de atención.
- Los psicólogos ambientales han argumentado que hay un componente de valor agregado a la relación humano-naturaleza. Al permanecer cerca de la naturaleza, nos sentimos más agradecidos y satisfechos por lo que nos ofrece (Harold Proshansky). Ver las maravillas del mundo exterior automáticamente fomenta dentro de nosotros la necesidad de protegerlo.
- Respirar en la naturaleza nos da una conciencia sensorial más saludable. Cuando pasamos tiempo al aire libre, somos más conscientes de lo que vemos, lo que oímos, lo que olemos y lo que sentimos.
